Yesterday at VMX, NAVTA convened leaders from across the veterinary profession—including representatives from AAVSB, AAHA, ATVE, AVMA, NAAVR, VHMA and VMG—for a collaborative discussion centered on a shared question: What does an ideal veterinary practice look like for the entire veterinary team?
Across organizations, common themes emerged, including effective team utilization, role clarity, working to the top of one’s license, strong onboarding and mentorship, trust, workflow efficiency, and a culture that supports collaboration and well-being. The group also discussed short term and long-term actionable steps to take to address perennial issues within the veterinary education and regulatory landscapes, as well as the need for practical, scalable tools that support practices of all sizes.
Participants agreed to move forward with the creation of a coalition – the Coalition for Veterinary Team Excellence — bringing together at least one representative from each organization—to continue this work and focus on actionable, real-world solutions. This working group will move forward as the Coalition for Veterinary Team Excellence. If your veterinary group would like to participate in this coalition, please contact NAVTA Executive Director Phil Russo at director@navta.net. More details to come.
