Maine VTA: Advocacy and Annual Meeting News

The Maine Veterinary Technician Association (MVTA) held its first meeting of the new year on January 10, 2026.

The association is actively working with the Maine Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA) in preparation for opening the Practice Act in 2027. MVTA is collaborating with the MVMA legislative committee and lobbyists to advocate for a Licensed Veterinary Technician seat on the state veterinary board, as well as to address several other matters benefiting LVTs across the state.

MVTA is also actively promoting its Technician of the Year and Student of the Year awards, which will be voted on and presented following the annual meeting. In addition, the association’s Business Feature has highlighted several LVT-owned side businesses.

The MVTA Annual Meeting will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 10:00 a.m. Open Board of Directors positions include Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Member-at-Large.
