The National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA) today announced leadership appointments following a special meeting of the Board of Directors.

Jennifer Serling, MVEd, BVSc, CVT, RVT, VTES, FVTE, has been appointed President of NAVTA, and Anna Santos, MPH, LVT, has been appointed President-Elect, each effective immediately. Both will complete the remainder of their predecessors’ unexpired terms and are eligible to continue service in their respective roles in accordance with NAVTA’s bylaws.

These appointments follow recent Board transitions. NAVTA acknowledges and thanks Beckie Mossor, BIS, MPA, RVT, and Ryan Frazier, BS, LVT, for their service and contributions during their tenure on the Board.

The Board also approved the appointment of Mandy Zachgo, LVT, MVEd, FVTE as Treasurer of NAVTA. Zachgo will complete the remainder of the unexpired term associated with the Treasurer position and is eligible for continued service in accordance with NAVTA’s bylaws.

In addition, Heather Prendergast, RVT, CVPM, SPHR, was appointed to the Board of Directors to fill the seat vacated by Serling and will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term.

“I’m honored to serve as President of NAVTA and grateful for the trust of the Board,” said Serling. “I look forward to working closely with our volunteer Board, professional staff and partners to reinforce NAVTA’s position as a strong, credible voice for our members and to advance the veterinary technician profession.”

NAVTA is committed to ethical leadership and thoughtful decision-making in the best interests of its members. Board transitions are not uncommon in volunteer-led organizations, and NAVTA’s bylaws, policies, and procedures have enabled NAVTA to manage this leadership transition quickly, efficiently, responsibly, and without interruption of service to members.

NAVTA wishes all of its members a happy and safe holiday season. We look forward to the new year and continuing our work to advance the veterinary technician profession.
