The Veterinary Technician of the Year Award recognizes an individual who exemplifies excellence in veterinary technology, demonstrates outstanding professional achievement, and advances the mission and values of the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA). This award honors a credentialed veterinary technician whose contributions elevate the profession, advance the veterinary technology profession, and inspire peers.
Nominators are encouraged to address the evaluation criteria reflected in the official scoring rubric and provide specific examples whenever possible as noted below.
- Demonstrates professional excellence through exceptional clinical practice, meaningful impact on patient care, or other significant contributions to veterinary medicine.
- Demonstrates leadership, advocacy, mentorship, or other meaningful contributions that positively influence colleagues and advance the veterinary technology profession.
- Demonstrates excellence through education, mentoring, public outreach, or meaningful engagement within the veterinary or broader community.
- Demonstrates innovation, creativity, or contributions that advance veterinary technology through new ideas, research, programs, or improved practices.
- Consistently demonstrates ethical conduct, professionalism, integrity, and a reputation that reflects positively on the veterinary technology profession.
In addition to the recognition, praise, and appreciation of NAVTA and its 9,000+ members, the winner will receive a free year of membership in NAVTA.
Nominations may be submitted by NAVTA members, licensed veterinarians, credentialed veterinary technicians, employers, supervisors, colleagues, and educators in AVMA-accredited veterinary technology programs. Self-nominations are not permitted.
Required Nomination Materials:
- Nomination Form (see button/link below) with contact information for both the nominator and nominee.
- Nomination Letter (1–2 pages) describing the nominee’s qualifications, achievements, and impact. Nominators are encouraged to address the evaluation criteria reflected in the official scoring rubric and provide specific examples whenever possible.
- Two letters of support from individuals familiar with the nominee’s professional contributions.
- Curriculum vitae or résumé highlighting professional experience, leadership, and contributions.
- Optional supporting materials such as publications, presentations, community outreach documentation, awards, or other evidence of impact.
Submission of nomination materials constitutes the nominator’s attestation that all materials accurately represent the nominee’s accomplishments, appropriately acknowledge authorship and sources where applicable, and are truthful to the best of the nominator’s knowledge.
