The AVMA is seeking candidates to fill three positions on the AVMA Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities® (CVTEA) for six-year terms beginning in July 2025.
Applications are due February 15, 2025, for candidates interested in these positions:
- Veterinarian representing at-large
- Veterinarian representing clinical veterinary medicine-large animal
- Veterinary technician (recent graduates encouraged to apply)
Qualifications for all committee positions
- Ability to travel for two or three site visits per year and attend three committee meetings (one virtual in April and two in person at AVMA headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, typically in mid-June and the first week of November)
- Access to email, reliable internet, and proficiency with Microsoft software applications
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to critically evaluate data, formulate questions, and objectively evaluate outcomes
- Ability to effectively work in a group setting, listen and respect opinions of others, and support the decisions of the committee
- Responsiveness to questions and projects throughout the year
- Appreciation for the role of innovation in veterinary technology education
- Appreciation for diversity in the form and delivery of veterinary technology education
- Open mind and positive attitude
Veterinary technicians must be credentialed and graduates of an AVMA CVTEA-accredited veterinary technology program, as well as members in good standing with the National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America (NAVTA).
In addition to these qualifications, CVTEA members typically
- slay at reading copious amounts of reports
- crush it at keeping information organized
- can stay low key and not get pressed in stressful situations.
Committee members are selected by the CVTEA Selection Committee. Interviews by Zoom will be conducted March 24-25, 2025. Candidates will be contacted to set up a specific meeting time.
